10am – 4pm

Join Restore Cumbria and Cumbria Clothing Collective for a brand-new, first-of-its-kind event in Cumbria.

We want to get people thinking more consciously about the clothes they wear, the environmental cost of fast fashion, and the opportunities to re-use, re-wear, restore, and re-sell garments. Through films, panel discussions and hands-on activities, we aim to inspire more sustainable choices and reduce clothing waste in Cumbria.

Expect a day packed with:

  • Inspiring films and engaging discussion panels
  • Hands-on repair workshops
  • Sustainable Fashion Shows
  • A clothes swap with expert colour and styling guidance, organized by Cumbria Clothing Collective, bring 4 items and swap for 4 new items at no charge.
  • Mending and repair demonstrations from leading companies and experts from across the UK, we’ll look at how to mend, reuse and recycle everyday clothes, sportswear and outdoor kit.

10am: HOW WE MAKE (Water Bear Film, 25min)

Every second, the equivalent of an entire rubbish truckload of clothes is burnt or buried in landfill.  But people are rethinking our relationship with clothes and pushing the frontiers of what’s possible, circulating them through repairs, resales and even upgrades. And textiles are being redesigned to be renewable and regenerative. One thing is for certain, the possibilities for innovation are endless

Plus Q&A from our Co-hosts: Finn Wildhill (Restore-Cumbria) & Gail Gravett (Cumbria Clothing Collective) with Amy Bray from Another Way

11:45am: Sustainable Fashion show with Primary & Secondary Schools from across Cumbria

12:45pm: ACTIONISM (Re-Action Collective Film)

1:45pm: Sustainable Fashion show with Primary & Secondary Schools from across Cumbria

3 to 4pm: Outdoor Care Demonstration with Lauren Davies, founder of Iron Keld Repairs; outdoor gear repair specialist based in Kendal.
