Programmed and Presented By John Porter
Join us for an evening of celebration marking the successful 1975 expedition to climb the South West Face of Everest.
In 2025, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the historic expedition that placed the first British climbers on the summit of Everest. Led by Sir Chris Bonington, the team achieved a landmark ascent when Doug Scott and Dougal Haston reached the top, though the expedition was marked by the tragic loss of Mick Burke.
This special event, chaired by John Porter, brings together Sir Chris along with Tut Braithwaite, Mike Thompson, Martin Boysen, and Dr Charles Clarke to reflect on the challenges, achievements, and enduring legacy of this remarkable endeavour—documented in Bonington’s classic book Everest the Hard Way.
A portion of all ticket sales will support Community Action Nepal, helping to continue the humanitarian work inspired by the spirit of Himalayan adventure.
